If your life centers around the Blessed Mother, the Most Blessed Sacrament, love for the Magesterium and the truths of the Catholic Faith, we invite you to consider discerning a vocation with us.

Our vocation discernment program is open to men who are:

  1. between the ages of 18-35 (exceptions can be made for older men depending on skills and experience);

  2. have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be open to further education (at least two years of college or work experience is also recommended);

  3. be free of major debt;

  4. be single and free from impediments (any previous marriage must be annulled, you have no dependent children, etc.);

  5. be living a virtuous, Christian life, free from scandal;

  6. possess a disciplined and sound prayer life, accompanied by a desire to serve Christ and his Church following our charism of ransom;

  7. possess good physical health along with appropriate
    psychological and emotional maturity; and,

  8. must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident prior to submitting application to us.

  9. One must also be able to make three visits a Mercedarian community during application/visit process.

  10. Recent converts to Catholicism must wait for two years before making application.

Take our Vocation Quiz and test your call!

The process of discernment begins by contacting a member of our Vocation team, Fr. Daniel or Br. Dominic.  Upon making this initial contact, the directors will call or correspond with you about your personal history and how God is calling you to serve him as a Mercedarian friar.  They may also invite you to make a visit to one of our local communities, or for a Come and See weekend in Philadelphia.  This initial visit will be followed up with additional visits to the community prior to application.
